Socotec Belgium, first Technical Inspection Services provider approved by CROW in the Netherlands
Socotec Belgium, a provider of inspection, consulting and technical assistance services to the building and transportation infrastructure industries, in Belgium and the Netherlands, has just been awarded the “Technical Inspection Services” approval by CROW, the Dutch public research body on transportation and infrastructures.
Such approval complies with the main ISO 17020 requirements – independence, competency, methods, tools, quality management system – and was recently launched by CROW to address the need for long term guarantees in the Dutch construction industry. ProRail, the Dutch national railway, AON and ALLIANZ have set up a specific ten-year insurance coverage – also known as Hidden Defects Insurance HDI – that requires construction quality to be assessed and checked.
The approval process was structured in two phases: review of the quality management system in September 2010 followed by a technical audit by CROW assessors in September 2011. Socotec Belgium, a fully owned subsidiary of the Socotec Group active in Belgium and the Netherlands since 2004, is very proud to be the first TIS provider approved by CROW in the Netherlands.
