Since 1945, Socotec Maroc has played a key part in all major construction projects. Historically, the Socotec group's first international branch opened in Morocco, Casablanca, to enable Socotec engineers to participate in standardising the risks of collapse on behalf of insurance companies. After the devastating earthquake in Agadir in 1960, Socotec drafted the first building rules for seismic zones. These rules later became the PS 69 regulations. Affiliated in 1974, the Socotec branch became Socotec Maroc.
